It’s that time again, that time after midnight,
and before dawn, when the only thing you hear
is the loud silence that surrounds, taking up space
in the darkness of night, casting shadows against
a black wall. You blink and still the dark exists,
blink again, but it doesn’t disappear. Search
for the light that left with the day, as you drift,
in and out of what is real or what you have
imagined. Will you ever find it again? Are you
even looking for it? Do you know what it is or
have you lost your way, between the disquiet,
of midnight and morn…
