The colors of fall

Russet and orange adorn

Flecks of gold petals

Now gathered, in a bouquet

Keeping autumn’s presence near

Storm clouds gather, drowning light

Red, with a fire, burning bright

Lightning strikes, forms a power

Hell unleashed, upon this hour

Nowhere to turn, nowhere to run

This beast, engulfs the midday sun

Untamed, fangs bared, roaring about

No way to douse it, can’t put him out

He covets the skies, desires now met

Wicked is he, this firestorm threat

It’s a new year, and Michelle has new prompts! Seems she’s teamed up with someone this time. I wonder who it could be 😉 Join us for the fun!! See if you can figure out which prompts are hers and which one’s are mine!

Happy New Year everyone!  It’s hard to believe another year is gone.  I decided to team up this month with Dorinda Duclos to create some awesome prompts for all of you.  She wrote half of them, so let’s see if any of you can figure out which one’s she wrote verses the one’s I wrote.  I think it was sort of funny how we both had similar ideas.  Please leave some feedback and let me know if you are enjoying the longer prompts.  If you’d like me to go back to writing the shorter ones, I’d be happy to oblige.  Enjoy!  ~M

If you’re new to prompt writing, and don’t really understand how to use the prompts, please consider the following writing exercise.

Settle into your favorite place in the house with a hot drink to warm your waking bones.  Once you’ve warmed up a bit; grab your journal, a…

Sometimes I lie awake at night
Wondering what tomorrow brings
Silver linings in the clouds
Sunrise made of golden rings

Trees that glisten emerald
Like gems against the sky
Flora dressed in sapphire and ruby
So much grace before my eyes

Silent waters crystal shine
Reflecting off the land
Prismatic shadows dance about
Their colors softly fanned

These beautiful adornments
No bracelet, brooch nor ring
Can ever match the splendor
Mother Nature always brings

Cast your eyes on these stones
Their brilliance sparks a flame
No price is put upon these jewels
Their cost, too grand to name

Now that July’s challenges are through

I have to find something else to do

I suppose, with this time

I could write you a rhyme

Or perhaps, a limerick or two

**********************************************

A HUGE Thank You to all who stuck with me while I took you on the crazy adventures of Agent N. Owl and her crew, and to all who grabbed bits and pieces of the story!  Remember, you can find it all here: On the Trail of a Mastermind

The end result? 13,195 words (phew) And ~M is still on the loose!!

But seriously…

I could not have done this without Michelle!!  Her writing prompts were the catalysts to this entire story.  I can’t thank her enough for doing these writing prompts every month, no matter how busy her schedule may be!

Bring on August!  I can’t wait!
