This week, Colleen challenges us with the words Game and Trouble. Remember, synonyms only to write your poetry!!

Written as a Reverse Etheree, my synonyms are Weak and Struggle.

Why do people assume they understand?
It is hard for me to comprehend
To struggle, with an unkind life
Yet, it does not make me weak
Nor will I claim defeat
I look solely for
Empathy, warmth
In, sometimes
A cruel
World

I couldn’t help but wonder
What lies beneath the fog

So tightly packed together
Right through it, I would slog

Making my way across it
Not knowing what’s hidden below

But that would just be stupid
Still, I’d really like to know

Perchance, what’s underneath
Is a secret, and I should wait

Or maybe there is nothing
Perhaps, I shouldn’t speculate

This usually causes trouble
Lord knows, that’s not what I need

But, maybe, just a little peek?
Seems it’s me who’s dense, indeed!

Having a blast, flying through the trees

One of the cutest, that you’ll ever see

His mama can’t catch him, he’s having some fun

He’s much too quick for her, when he runs

He likes to spin, all around, in the jungle

Hanging on vines, he’s all rough and tumble

Always getting into mischief, such trouble, is he

How can anyone resist, this little monkey!

Sniffles and Snuffles, were nothing but trouble

When they got sick, it turned into double

Sneezing and coughing, back and forth it went

Ran out of tissues, the hot water bottle’s spent

Really don’t know what to do, for a monkey and teddy

I wish they would just get better already!

He walks around, drink in his hand
Jack in his glass, Jill by his side
Likes to make people think he’s the man
Nobody notices, he takes it in stride

Armani tux, bow tie, overdressed
Seems money’s no object, a toy
She wore Versace, no one’s impressed
Still played her part, being coy

A boring affair is never that good
Makes minds start to wander and stare
Across the room, she tipped her glass
Jack smiled, the devil beware

She broke away, to powder her nose
He caught her eye, with a glance
Jill knew something was terribly wrong
He knew, he was taking a chance

Told her he needed another
Left Jill standing there, alone
Watched as he went in another direction
‘Twas then that her heart turned to stone

Tried to secretly meet in the hallway
Too late, they got caught in the act
Jack tried to plead for both of their lives
But Jill didn’t care, that’s a fact

Two shots rang out, she didn’t miss
Their bodies lie dead on the floor
Arrested for murder, gun in her hand
Said she just couldn’t take anymore
