A deceptive view, my eyes do see, above the water, stands a tree; and yet, it also lives beneath, with reflections of a barren heath. As does the mountain, and the sun; casting shadows, all is one.

I allow myself to linger there, watching as they meet; land and water, trees and air, lying at my feet. Basking in this wonder, I breathe in all the glory; both above and under, this is nature’s telling story.

Sitting on the banks, I close my eyes and meditate; for this beauty I must thank, as my soul, it does elate.

img_3196What lies beyond the forest mist

Comes closer, if you whisper

Your breath, exhale, the frosty dew

As the air becomes much crisper

The path behind you disappears

No footsteps can you follow

Walking through the fog, just you

Staggering, as you wallow

In the stillness that surrounds

Stop now, inhale, and feel it

Winter’s frozen drops abound

In the fog that does conceal it

Sometimes I lie awake at night
Wondering what tomorrow brings
Silver linings in the clouds
Sunrise made of golden rings

Trees that glisten emerald
Like gems against the sky
Flora dressed in sapphire and ruby
So much grace before my eyes

Silent waters crystal shine
Reflecting off the land
Prismatic shadows dance about
Their colors softly fanned

These beautiful adornments
No bracelet, brooch nor ring
Can ever match the splendor
Mother Nature always brings

Cast your eyes on these stones
Their brilliance sparks a flame
No price is put upon these jewels
Their cost, too grand to name

Calm ~ #writephoto #shortstory

Azure skies reflect in crystal waters, flanked by green grasses, and what were once the vibrant colors of the leaves. They’re faded now, turned to brown, but the colors still remain vivid in my eyes. Here is where I find a sense of peacefulness, a calm like no other, reaching through to my soul, a serenity in nature, held captive on this Earth. I walk softly, for fear I’ll disturb the silence that breathes here.

Stopping, I find myself sitting down on the banks, under the trees, feeling the cool breezes of the near-ending season, and I take note that winter is fast approaching, pulling the collar of my sweater closer to my face. How I wish I could bottle this incredible feeling. But alas, I cannot, so I must make good with the time she remains with me, and patiently wait for her to return from her lengthy respite.

And I shall remain here, long into the day, soaking in her beauty, for I do not yet wish to bid autumn adieu…
