Sleep, My Love

As Twilight Darkens

And Stars Illuminate

Dream, My Love

Visions as Brilliant

As the Full Lit Moon

Awaken, My Love

As Morning Renews

And Life Begins Again

Morning sun sneaks in

Infringing upon curtained windows

Softly nudging, awakening

Bodies bundled in sleep

Slumber Deep

It is quite surreal
Just how you feel
Drifting off to sleep
Catching yourself
Floating away
Into a slumber deep

Beginning to dream
Drowning out noise
Into much quieter spaces
Lifting you there
On gossamer wings
To very faraway places

Sailing along with
The moon and the stars
Deflecting the time that goes by
Wandering freely
Where no one can see thee
Lost in the blackening sky

Nights lost to a struggle
unable to shut down
a mind that is filled with
wandering dreams
and obsessive thoughts
constantly invading, reminding
of things to be done
in the waking dawn
that comes too quickly

Wide Awake – A Poet’s Lament

Why am I
So wide awake?
I went to bed
For goodness sake!

I shut the light
And close my eyes
And pray the sandman
Won’t pass me by

My mind’s still going
It’s on a tear
I toss and turn
And get nowhere

It’s no use trying
With all my might
A poet never sleeps
So I get up and write
