Choose a stairway, your destination

One is filled with fascination

The other enchants, with exploration

Hidden neath the golden leaves

Imagination, once perceived

Lost, below the arching eaves

Of covered vines, that catch your eye

And breathe, a rather heavenly sigh

Watching, as you pass them by

Wondering, if you’ve chosen right

Or have you lost your sense of sight

Looking for another flight

That leads to affirmation

I may fade away, like empty tears

I may cry, until they disappear

Like seagulls, as they fly away

Into the set of another day

The beauty, which has passed me by

As I continue, breathe, then sigh

Knowing that my time is borrowed

I pray each day for a new tomorrow

To wipe away these mortal fears

And restore my visions, ever clear

Barefoot, she walks among the roots
Deep within the ground around her
Feels the pulse of life flowing there
She pauses, lets the senses surround her

The lush of the evergreen, hidden away
Still leaves its fragrance there
Even barren and stark, against graying skies
She can breathe in the scent of the air

Listening closely to the sounds of the forest
Its heartbeat in rhythm with her own
Envisioning colors of grandest affair
Once vibrant, though now monotone

Poignantly gathering her last, deepest thought
She sighs as she gazes through limbs
Knowing one day she’ll again return here
To feel the senses she remembers of him
