Unafraid to face the war
Of humans battling one another
Bullets flying, run for cover
Terror plagues this hallowed land
Acts of violence, carefully planned
For what? I have to wonder why.
How many tears must we all cry?
How many others have to die?
Until this carnage, at last does cease
And once again, we can live in peace
Remembering those in Orlando, and around the world, who have fallen to these senseless acts of violence.

Is that you I see past my window shade?
Have you come to visit this lonely soul?
Venture in and stay awhile
Sit with me, as I grow old
The chair, once filled with laughing eyes
Has been empty, many years gone by
And I watch and wait for that certain day
When we are together again, to stay
Is that you, I see outside?
As my world turns monochrome?
Here’s my hand, I’m ready now
For you to take me home

I really should be fast asleep
It’s funny, I’m not tired
The night has taken over me
The light of day, expired
There’s a spider crawling up my wall
He doesn’t notice me at all
Perhaps he’s uninspired
By the fact that I’m not tired
My brain is running on caffeine
It really should be in a dream
Is that truly what I desire?
Cause I’m really not that tired
I close my eyes and try to rest
Still, visions dance before me
Why do I even bother?
Now where’s that cup of coffee?
Sweet liquid gold is most required
Oh, did I mention I’m not tired?

Like clouds floating by, she is windswept
With the flowing air, her dreams well kept
Tranquil waters, soothing, a balm
Bringing her peace of mind, a calm
That joins together, as the night does fall
And nestles her, like a comforting shawl
Gathering thoughts, of life and love
Watching as darkness covers above
Still, over her shoulder she gazes afar
Wondering where her dreams really are
