When light begins to shine

And darkened skies diminish

I find you still, fast asleep

Thoughts and dreams unfinished

A subtle smile upon your face

To tell me you’re all right

With what awaits once you awake

From slumber’s gentle night

mom2
Years ago, that October day
I learned about true love
God sent me a guardian angel
My blessing from above

Guiding me along the path
She taught me how to live
With wisdom, grace and dignity
Giving all she had to give

And still this day
She shines her light
On all who gather round
I’m so very proud to call her Mom
My love for her abounds

Friday Fantasy ~ Awakening

Escape with me
To worlds unknown
Into the forest mist
Along the path
Of guiding trees
That color gently kissed

To a place
Where specters rule
And spirits run so free
Along the path
Your destiny awaits
In shrouded mystery

Do not fear
The road ahead
All is not what it seems
Along the path
You journey now
Awakening your dreams

Clinging to the cold hard stone
Looking down below
Contemplating my escape
Alas, no place to go

Nightmares fill my every thought
Dragging me further within
Will someone come to rescue me
Before my breath wears thin

Save me from this darkened place
The demons, cast away
As I stand upon this window’s ledge
Calling for the light of day

To chase the monsters from my head
And drive away the pain
Release me from this tortured soul
Let me breathe in life again
