It is quite surreal
Just how you feel
Drifting off to sleep
Catching yourself
Floating away
Into a slumber deep

Beginning to dream
Drowning out noise
Into much quieter spaces
Lifting you there
On gossamer wings
To very faraway places

Sailing along with
The moon and the stars
Deflecting the time that goes by
Wandering freely
Where no one can see thee
Lost in the blackening sky

Morning awakens
The gentle slumber of the sea
Casting a brilliance of crimson
Against mountains, still restless
From the ebony night

A gentle rippling
Of the ocean tide
Sends shimmering splendor
Across pale blue, basking
In the sun’s radiant light

Reflections linger
In the water’s hue
A quiet caress, waking day
Whilst Heaven’s jewel, softly
Colors black with a glorious sight

Listen, do your hear them
The gentle sounds of spirits
Whispering softly
Among themselves
Listen! Do you hear it?

Locked forever in the ruins
Of yesterday’s gone by
Ethereal creatures
On the wisp of a wind
Their voices quietly sigh

Lost forever in this place
Yet, solace do they find
Dancing about
In mysterious ways
Body, soul and mind

Yes, their voices fill the stillness
The gentle sounds of spirits
Whispering softly
Among themselves
Just listen, you will hear it

I got a little goofy and here’s my “challenge”.

Dirty Bird
I saw a bird flying high
Wings waving, soaring by
Landing on a mound of dust
Blowing from a windy gust
Trying hard to find a spot
A bill of dirt is what it got

You don’t realize how hard it is to string together words without the letter E, until you actually have to do it!! There are rules, such as nominating others, but I can see that most of you have already taken a stab and have come up with some quite entertaining ditties!! So I’m skipping the nominations. Feel free to take the challenge. See how creative you can be 🙂
