Mistakes

A lost love, a broken heart
You walked away, I fell apart

Our time together, went quickly by
Not even a chance, for one more try

I clutch your picture to my chest, I cannot look away
I don’t remember what I did, to make you go that day

You had your moments, I had mine too
You blamed me, I blamed you

I guess it’s best, to say goodbye
There is no point, in living a lie

A lesson profound, one I cannot forsake
I live and learn, from my own mistake

God, Night Owl Poetry, poems, poetry, sunday, sunday morning

The warmth of the sun
The sweet morning air
A day to be lazy
With nary a care

We rise from our beds
We stretch and we yawn
And find ourselves lost
In a glorious dawn

And thank the good Lord
For allowing us to see
Another beautiful Sunday
Made for you and for me

The glow of the moon
The warmth of the sun
A little boy’s laughter
The thrill as he runs

The blowing of wind
The falling of leaves
The blossom of flowers
The budding of trees

An elderly couple
Who walk hand in hand
The sound of the ocean
The feel of the sand

The colors of a rainbow
The grass on the lawn
A sign of new hope
A doe with her fawn

The song of a robin
The coo of a dove
All the bird’s sharing
Their sermon of love

The buzz of a bee
The fresh morning dew
All of God’s splendor
Is waiting for you

Without Goodbye

We talked for hours
The time flew by, without
a single thought of
anyone else
Just the two of us, sharing
laughing, listening
dreaming, of a better
world, a better tomorrow
For us

Then you’re gone
Not a moment’s notice, not
a word nor a wave
leaving me confused
Why did you stop by,
why did you stay so long
only to disappear
From my view

And I ponder the moment
we met
The happiness, the joy
the sorrow, the tears
And I can’t help
but wonder
why you left
without goodbye.

Fire

Yellow flames ignite, as
a ghostly figure dances slowly
around a column of luminous
wonder, stretching its hand
above the flame, leaning in
to seek the power,
never quite close enough
to capture the fever
