I am but a piece, created from a strip of bark

Crumpled by your hands, smoothed out again

Your thoughts, played over and over

My essence lacks emotion, and yet, I

Am able to feel the passion that flows

From your fingertips, through the pen, to me

A single sheet of paper, waiting, watching

As you bring me to life with every stroke

With every sigh, with every bit of your soul.

I want to watch the moonlight

Fall gently across your face

I want to feel your gentle touch

As your fingers softly trace

These feelings that surround me

The warmth, I feel inside

The joyfulness, around me

Where safely, I abide

Wrapped within your arms

From night until we wake

Sated forever, and always

With the love our body’s make

I will lie here, in this moment

Thinking only of you, your touch,

The subtle air surrounding you

Indeed, spend these lingering hours,

Basking in the glow, the splendor

Of a fire, burning, unbridled passion

Yes, I choose to stay here, enrapt,

Inhaling your scent, with the flowers

Of perfect love, tulips, by my side

You are a fragrance, I’ll not soon forget

He was like a wave

Gently washing over me

Caressing my body

In fluid movements

As the waters swelled

Ebbing and flowing

In rhythmic motion

Our bodies crashing ashore

As one with the tide
