There were crazy purple critters

Crawling across my nice green grass

Slinking, slithering, on their way

How could they be so crass?

To change the color of my yard

Into some kind of psychedelic mess

I wondered if it was the gal next door

The one who wore purple, I’d guess

She always seemed rather odd to me

I could never quite figure it out

Very strange things did happen there

Of this, I’ve not a single doubt

Venturing out, onto the grass

I couldn’t stay long, because of my asthma

By the fence, I could see her searching around

“Have you seen my dear purple plasma?”

I knew, there was definitely something wrong

I ran back inside, as fast as I could

No way in hell, I was touching those things

Time to find me a new neighborhood

Look at the goodies, we grabbed up today

All from the neighbors, who live down our way

We just couldn’t wait, we weren’t that strong

We ate all the candy, although it was wrong

Slurping up chocolate, what a hideous sight!

Charlie kept burping, the rest of the night

Til we all made it home, alas, to our beds

But all of the sugar had gone to our heads

We couldn’t sleep, this wasn’t right

To be in our house on this Halloween night

So we all sneaked out, round the neighborhood

Hoping again, we would find something good

Writing Prompt: Slurps and Burps – Day 31/31 – Can you believe it!  31 days of writing prompts are over!!  Thanks for all the fun, Michelle!  Now, where are November’s writing prompts?

All Hallows eve, the night closes in

Fantastical beasts return on a whim

Waiting and watching, the chill, we suspected

But shadows grow longer, and quite unexpected

The moon shines a glow, but it’s still not enough

To keep them from coming, though we try to rebuff

Witches and warlocks fly through the air

Skeletons rattle about without care

The living dead walk aimlessly in the dark

Ghosts and ghouls gather round in the park

All watching the clock, for the midnight hour

Impatiently waiting for what they will devour

They came in all flavors

So what’s a frog to do?

Butterscotch, chocolate

And plain vanilla, too!

I could try only one

But that wouldn’t be fair

To leave the other two

In the tin, sitting there

So I’ll eat all the crispies

Whatever it takes

And probably wind up with

A wicked stomach ache

Maniacal beings appear on the spot

Of graves from the others, a most twisted plot

They rise from the underworld, ready to strike

Frightening humans, yes, those they dislike

Rattling bones, they create such a clatter

Run if you must, it won’t really matter

For thieves of the underground

Will search, until you are found

They’re coming to get you, ready or not!
