Colleen was kind enough to give us the words for this weeks challenge, even though she started her Yule break! Thank you, Colleen ❤ The words this week are Fly and Sing. Remember, you can only use synonyms to write your poetry!
Written as a Tanka, my synonyms are Soar and Serenade.
A small bird does serenade
The tree it calls home
Soaring above the green leaves
Admiring from afar

Like a swirling tornado, they fly
How I long to be one of them

Alone and lost amid verdant ground,
High upon the wood, I’m found, looking
For ones who look like me, the ones
Who form my family, for without them,
I’d just gaze about, wondering
What my life’s about, afraid to climb
To soaring heights, afraid that maybe
I just might, fail to spread my wings and fly,
Fail to find the reason why, I was left here,
By myself, a lonely bird, upon a shelf
