It’s hard to believe three years have passed

It seems like it was only yesterday, but alas

You left this earth, and found a new place

But deep in my heart, you left a huge space

Friends til the end, though often, we’d fight

Eventually, always making everything right

Promised to be the last two standing, we did

But you left before me, I’m still here, on this grid

I miss the laughter, with those silly tales you’d tell

But I know, up there, you’re giving somebody hell

Miss you, buddy… In loving memory of Paul Pannone 1960 – 2015

On opposite sides of the fence

Two people, strangers no more

But the wire that stood between them

Was locked, like a rusted old door

Love etched upon the metal bolt

And a date they both knew by heart

One they would never get to

The fence kept them too far apart

Defiant, they pulled on the gate

Hoping, the lock, they could sever

For love can never be kept at bay

When you’re fighting for a forever

Rude Mood ~ An Unromantic Tuesday – #poetry

It started out quite innocently
A conversation they had over dinner

Nothing was said nicely, nor eloquently
And no one would come out the winner

Name calling commenced, round the table
It got uglier as time went on

Each one got their own special label
The lines in the sands, had been drawn

Back and forth, it went for hours
Until hunger won out, and they ate

The next day, the misses got flowers
The next day, was one day too late

Ever Wonder

Ever wonder
if we’ll wake up tomorrow
To find the blue sky
a cloud of ash
nothing to see
but darkness

Ever wonder
why men must prove themselves
Their egos, getting in the way
of making it right,
of filling the world
with pride…hope

Ever wonder
what will become
Of a nation
that keeps pushing God out
of schools, of work places, of life

Ever wonder
If we’ll just wake up.
