I will lie here and listen

To the gentle sounds of night

I will lie here and imagine

I’m surrounded by your light

For it’s the ebony glow

That captivates my soul

Without your mere reflection

My heart cannot be whole

So in the evening hours

Those nights you turn away

I will lie here, waiting

For your return, I pray

Listen to the Rain

The sky tells its story

It speaks of light in the dark

Though storm clouds chase the day away

The heavens leave their mark

Reminding me, this too, shall pass

The light will return again

This is the hope I cling to

While I listen to the rain

Brighten the night, with light from above

Awaken the ground, with your undying love

Your spirit ignites the souls in the sky

Dancing about, as they gracefully fly

Images, illuminating the darkness within

Creating their music, with a lyrical spin

Casting their wonder, in a spiritual glow

From Heaven above, to the Earth down below

Singing so sweetly, their songs, so tender

As my heart finds peace, my soul, surrender

The skies grew dark
On this somber day
The sunlight diminished
Into clouds of gray
That let the rains
Pour down around
With a thunderous clap
In a deafening sound

“Father, forgive them,
for they know not what they do”

The time had come
His father awaited
God called him home
As the soldiers berated
The faithful that wept
For this man they betrayed
Sacrificed for their sins
On this mournful Friday

Removed from the cross
Wrapped in a shroud
They took him away
From the lingering crowd
While a mother wept
For the loss of her son

“It is finished, it is done”

They laid him to rest
In a tomb made of stone
Guarded by sentries
He was never alone
Mary Magdalen kept vigil
Those close heard her pray
For her savior’s return
On this Holy Saturday

Yet, day turned to night
And the stone kept its place
As Mary now slept
Stained with tears, on her face

When she finally awakens
She rushes to see
The stone has been moved
The tomb, now empty

The soldiers, bewildered
Still groggy from sleep
Blaming the faithful
For stealing their keep

The crowd no longer fazed
By the threat of the sword
Rejoice in their knowing
Yes! He is the Lord

Mary calls to a man
Who is walking along
Asks if he knows
Where Jesus has gone

She begs him again
She must know His fate
“Where have they taken Him?
Please! Before it’s too late!”

As He turns to face her
She knows, right away
Yes, He is Arisen!
On this Glorious Day

Have a very Blessed Easter!  God bless you all ❤

The Holy week for Christians begins on Holy Thursday, the day of the last supper, the holy communion and finally, the betrayal of Jesus. On Good Friday, Holy Saturday and Easter Sunday, I will share a three part poem about these fateful days, leading up to Jesus’ resurrection.

Please know that this is in no way meant to offend anyone. We all believe, in our own ways. This is simply my reflection…..

Until tomorrow,

Dorinda
