Authors Note:  This poem is based on true events in Texas.  The horrific way in which humans are being smuggled and trafficked has to stop!!!

They’re thrown, like trash

Into containers, chained

Padlocked, no air, no light

The only sound, echoes

Of tears, falling against

Metal floors, they dare not

Cry out, lest they lose

The only thing left, but life

Betrayed them, left them

Stranded, unable to survive
