Deep in the forest, among the trees

The wings of a dragon, soar with the breeze

A hint of mint from the gardens below

Cascades through the forest’s verdant show

Its fragrance, sweet as autumn air

Making this dragon seem more aware

Of the beings, who have entered here

And make their way too dangerously near

Far beyond the ridge, there’s a hidden lair

Where you’ll find, he’ll trap you then declare

There’s no escape from your own abduction

And soon, you’ll learn, the dragon’s destruction

For no human has ever left these woods

They’ve disappeared, vanished, gone for good

With fiery breath

Erupting, with great ire

She covets the land

The photo above shows the destruction of the Kilauea Volcano in Hawaii!!  I can’t even imagine!  Prayers for the big island!

Blazing Heat ~ #poetry

Through forest paths of fallen pines

I dare not tread beyond the lines

Of trails once traveled by those before

Trampled pieces, laid on the floor

The forest creatures flee in fright

Their habitat, a dreadful sight

No shelter left from blazing heat

No protection for their feet

Nothing to shield the flames of fire

There is nothing left but fallen brier

A single match was all it took

To change the way the forest looks

Charred beyond, this sight, obscene

By man, who burned, the evergreen

Note: Human-caused fires burn more than 2. 5 million acres each year, or nearly 4,000 square miles — an area bigger than Delaware. (FoxNews US)

Gathering, in a wind that whirls

Picking up land, stuck in a swirl

The sounds of a freight train

Roaring, til nothing does remain

Thrashing about, in a spiral heat

Crashing about, an astonishing feat

Lifting the earth, roots fly about

I’m caught in a twister, no way to get out

They came about, in dark of night

Thumping, hear them in their flight

With the dawning of a sleepy sky

Majestic wings, powerfully fly

Down to where, without a care

They blaze a fire, beyond compare

Igniting the skies, with flames of gold

Yes, these are tales most often told

Of how the beasts once slayed the land

With fiery hearts and wings that spanned

Across the skies, their ill-tempered display

Three mighty dragons, who seized the day
