On the other side of the looking glass

With her lantern shining bright

She reflects her image sweetly

This fairy, and her light

Her eyes asparkle, mesmerizing

She has you in her hold

Her beauty more beguiling than

The mirror made of gold

She’ll taunt you to come closer

Her smile is her disguise

Once she’s got you hypnotized

Her reflection is your demise

graphics-946270_960_720For someone very dear to my heart, and to all the women (and men) who are victims of domestic violence….you’re stronger than you think  ❤

Before the light of day turns blue
And darkness finds my sorrow
Memories flood in vibrant hue
Will I awake again, tomorrow?

Unable to dream of happier times
When life was oh so kind
Remembering all that I once was
How could I be so blind?

To think this would be forever
That nothing could break the ties
Instead it leaves an open wound
Filled with empty, deceptive lies

That drown my heart in crimson red
As my body bleeds from you
Dreams turned into nightmares
It was all that I could do

To keep from losing who I am
To myself, I must be true
And find the strength to walk away
Before the light of day turns blue

sunrise-580379_960_720Golden orb of daylight shine
Deceptive in your glow
No warmth from brilliance do you bring
Upon the earth below

Crystal prisms from clouds above
Tossed about, one by one, adorn
Swirling with the wind so free
Covering ground, in the chill of morn

Flaxen skies peek quietly through
As if they are forbidden
Deceiving hope of warmer days
Behind the clouds, are hidden
