Is this how you like it?

Slathered on, rather thickly

Then there is only one thing

You shouldn’t try too quickly

Once you take a bite

Of your peanut butter sandwich

Be sure to chew it carefully

Or you’ll be at a disadvantage

Your words will stick together

And you’ll really start to stutter

No one will understand you

When you speak in beanut putter

They don’t know how it happened!

What do you mean? They have no clue?

Too many questions, all at once

Left them in a terrible stew!

Seems Colon missed a period

When Ellipsis…. had one too many

Apostrophe kept things together

When Comma hooked up with Semi

But when things became diacritical

For those poor, dear Punctuation’s

We cried, “Just hyphenate, til you dilate

Contractions will be your salvation!”

How could I be this insane?
To attempt such a silly endeavor
As crazy as this might sound to most
I think it sounds quite clever!

In order to achieve this foolishness
One that’s sure to be an adventure
I challenge you to a wild time, ready?
Be sure to hold on to your denture!

Come a bit closer, stand right over here
This is something you won’t want to miss
Plant yourself under this sprig of green
And I’ll plant on you, my biggest kiss!

What do you mean, I’m crazy?
Tis the season of giving, my friend
Looks like I’ll have to find another
Under the mistletoe, to apprehend

Old books sitting on a shelf

Not sure if I’ve read them all myself

Bindings with edges, chipped and peeling

Make them seem ever more appealing

Thinking I should open them up, peruse

Wondering which one I should choose

I’ve decided, this is the perfect book!

I’ll get lost in the waves with “Captain Cook”

I think Michelle does this on purpose

Makes my writing become quite a circus

She comes up with these prompts

And my brain cells get stomped

Wondering what she has, next, for us

My poems begin with hogwash

Near the end, I pray, rather posh

But as you can see, I’m a true devotee

Hope I’ve tackled her words with panache
