Heroin
Shadows once hidden
Drawing you out
Your heart begins to pound

The Demon invading
Holding you hostage
Enslaved, Ensnared, Bound

No way to escape
The Darkness within
It swallows you whole in a flash

You’re soaring so high
Not a care in the world
Unaware of the imminent crash

Heroin use is rising everyday. Pay attention.  Talk to your children.  Know what’s going on in their lives.  Don’t ever say “not my kid” because there’s no such thing.  Be involved….be a parent.

Sadly, my son and daughter have both lost classmates to this horrible drug.  To watch 20 something’s lay a friend to rest is a nightmare.  We can stop it….but only if we care.

Come back to me
My prince, my lover
For me, alas
There is no other

As water swirls
Around your bones
Arise and be
My very own

Feel my energy
Flow deep within
Life to you
Must now begin

As moon glows bright
In the sky above
Awaken now
Fulfill my love

We All Grieve

We all grieve
Some of us silently
Some aloud
Each of us choosing
To remain hidden
Or be seen by the crowd

Yet our hearts break
The same either way
As we weep together
The comfort we find
In the ones around
Is hope it will get better

They guide us through
The hurt and pain
Blanketing our sorrow
Of a life cut short
And we say goodbye
To begin again tomorrow

Like a spider carefully
spinning her web
weaving an intricate maze
She centers herself in hopes
of making the ultimate catch
and he’s drawn to her
until he cannot escape
as she wraps her blanket
around him in
an everlasting grave

The Dragon

A mighty knight enters as
a low growl emits
from a savage sight
asleep in its nestled world

Shielding its treasure
in a vast cavern
it stirs as sounds rudely
disturb its quiet abode

He has awakened
the giant from its slumber
and it lashes out with razor claws
and fiery breaths

Even the flash of his sword
will not defend him nor
tame the hunger of the beast
as it rises before him

In one fell swoop
It corners him with
no escape and the slayer
becomes the slain
