She lets me know when she is near
Her footsteps in the hallway, clear
Doors that open when no one’s home
She always knows when I’m alone
And yes, at times, she’ll find a tree
As a cardinal, there to comfort me
Her song so sweet, to my own ear
My guardian angel, forever dear

Sitting high, as I’m allowed
Quietly, here, above the clouds
Sprouted wings have found my back
Underneath, my empty pack
I have no need for earthly goods
I’ve left behind, the neighborhood
My journey ends and yet begins
Forgiven of my mortal sins
High above this earthly dome
God has called me to his home

that place
only a child’s
imagination knows.
Where the angels
and the demons
draw upon them,
a daily discovery
Of right
and wrong
of weak
and strong
Do they belong?
Innocence
that place
we left
long ago

She’ll sail through the skies,
As the stars begin whispering
Fly through the heavens,
Hearing the angels, softly sing
Their glorious melody,
Such a welcoming tune
When the soul and the sky,
Do finally commune
As one with the kingdom,
Kept higher, above
Where eternity awaits,
On the wings of love
Rest well, Nilda..Heaven has a new angel…
