He
Plotted
Against her
She, unaware
Was drawn into him
Demonic sources raged
As fires, aglow, flickered
Against the darkness of the night
Death was knocking, she, ignoring him
Would not let the devil lead her astray

Whisper in the silent night

Of promises, of morning light

Talk to me in tender tones

Caress my ever aching bones

With words that speak of thoughts anew

Ones that call to me, from you

To guide me through the darkest days

Quietly, in compassionate ways

Your understanding heart, so dear

You speak the words my soul can hear

Yes! Whisper to me in the night

Of promises, of hope, of light

Lesson Learned – #100wordstory – #JuneWriting

Mabel made the best pies. When her sister took ill, she needed to go to her, reminding Harold he’d have to bake for the fund raiser at church. Harold, half listening, nodded, wishing her a safe trip.

It was hours later he realized, he’d have to bake on his own. Gathering ingredients, he mixed and kneaded, baked, and checked, finally taking out the pie. It looked pitiful.

Trying to put one over on the parishioners, he purchased one from the next town. His attempt at trickery failed.

Lesson learned: Never try to fool they, in whose house you also pray.

Nothing to Stop Me – #poetry #life #future

I sat here awhile,
Trying to find reason,
Why I should remain where I am.
There’s so much out there,
I haven’t touched.
I needed to make a new plan.

Rising from this bench,
Where I have spent
Too many days in the dark
I’ll take a leap of faith,
And head for the stars.
It’s time for me to make my mark.

The universe is calling to me
I need to go,
I just can’t wait.
It’s been too long,
Since I was free.
The galaxy, opened its gates

Onward, I will take my soul
Find the path
Laid out, I can see.
The sky’s the limit,
There’s nothing to stop…

Me… from being me.
