sky with bird
For a moment
I will stand and let the wind
Take my breath away
Pierce through me
Like a talon through its prey

For a moment
I will let the sun’s rays
Envelop my skin
Comfort my soul
Warm deep within

For a moment
I will whisk away
To another place
Forget about sorrow
Find a lighter space

For a moment
I will let my guard down
Give others a chance
To twirl to infinity
Get lost in the dance

Yet, for more than a moment
I will listen to my heart
The gentle whispers
Of loved ones gone
Wrapped up in my soul
Forever, and yon

A whisper of breath

Against my neck, a promise

Of what is to come

Beauty still exists

Even when the colors fade

In winter’s garden

She is

Blended with earth

The soil of the land

Betwixt the trees

And barren branches

Eyes of nature

Watching, adoring

Beauty muted in earthly tones

Shades of green against the bone

The calling of breath, inhale, rescind

She is the quiet rustle of wind

Subtle, quenching breezes blow

Gentle whispers softly flow

Giving flight about the wood

Encircled, she is understood

She is the flutter of wings and feathers

A spirit free, never bound, never tethered
