I spent the day in quiet thought, the time passed by like lightning

How could these musings be so fraught, how could they be so frightening?

I tried to clear the darkness, yet it fought its way back in

And that was when I realized, exactly where I’d been

Lost in shadows, I crept about, noticing things encumbered

No longer freeing, always fleeing, my soul, for sure, outnumbered

She traveled quietly, about the town, no one seemed to greet her

Eerily floating above the street, I didn’t want to meet her

Soon she vanished, without a trace, and I felt myself relieved

Still I pondered why she came, and what I, did now, perceive

bird-1839638_960_720Hello friends!

Over the course of this year, I will be sharing a different side of me.  I’m hoping it will lead me in new directions, and not smack into a tree.  I admit, my life is not all peaches and cream (whose is), and as such, my dark side does emerge from time to time.  I’ve decided I’m going to let it loose whenever it feels the need.  I hope you’ll indulge me on this endeavor as I spread my wings and soar!

As some of you have already seen, I am also dabbling in short stories.  I blame Richard for this.  I have to admit, I’m having fun   🙂

Your feedback is greatly appreciated….thank you in advance.

I’ll see you on the dark side….(and I definitely have cookies)

❤  Dorinda

Spin Me Round ~ #shortstory #creativewriting

ferris-wheel-768835_960_720There it was again, that feeling of spiraling out of control. She kept spinning around in circles, like being caught on the “Tilt-A-Whirl” at the amusement park. The constant in and out, picking up speed, slowing down, was making her nauseous. Each time she would try to escape, the spin increased, and she just tried to hold on. At least the view was interesting, that is when she had enough time to admire it, before the spinning began again. It was fine at night, though. The dizziness disappeared, as suddenly as the lights. When the dark crept in, she was able to sit quietly and finally relax. That’s when she saw him. He was wearing some kind of uniform.  She jumped, he was speaking to her but she couldn’t understand him. But she could see he was getting frustrated by the fact he began gesturing to her. She finally stood and got closer to him, but the spinning began again. Quickly, she sat back down. He had had enough. He hollered, almost with an echo in his voice,

“MA’AM?”

“Yes”

Finally, he got a reply.

“It’s time to go.”

“Go? Where?”

“Home, ma’am, the malls closed”

“The mall?”

Yes, ma’am, you’ve been riding the revolving doors all day. Time to go.”

My muse, alas, has run away

She said she could no longer stay

I drive her crazy, through the night

And keep her up, til morning light

She claims this is no life to live

She needs to dream, so please forgive

My poetry, as it may stray

Til Muse returns, another day
