You’ll Never be Alone – #poetry #mom

For Mom, my guardian angel…

Subtle little clues
You like to leave behind
To let me know you’re with me
Making it easier to find

Boxes filled with memories
Clothes, once hung upon the door
Are now laying in the hallway
Where you’ve put them, on the floor

You really needn’t show me
I can feel your presence near
Reminding me to be careful
Of the many treasures here

I’ve wrapped them up in paper
Placed them gently, as not to break
Packed up everything I could
Oh, how my heart does ache

Yet, in very quiet moments,
When I am in your home,
I can hear you whisper
“You’ll never be alone”

It has been a long time since we sat

Way back then, I believe we were phat

Our days were confounded

Skeletons abounded

Now naked, donned only in a hat

Just Me and the Universe – #poetry of #escape

I’ll float, far away
Into clouds of unknown
Settled sweetly in this basket
I now call my home
Heading for the crescent
Lighting the sky
A place in the heavens
Tis where I shall fly.

My balloon, it mimics
The likes of a fish
One made of jelly
Upon which I wish
To travel to places
I’ve not been before
Clipping the mountain tops
Over the shore.

Skirting the lands
I’ll make my escape
With the wind in my hair
And the night, taking shape
Just me and the universe
Stretching our wings
Flying, free as a bird
With naught anchoring.

Two More – #poetry – #witch – #fantasy

The children journeyed near the forest house
She stood there, watching and waiting
Not making a sound, as quiet as a mouse
The witch thought this ever frustrating

All she wanted was to make a stew
The ingredients, of course, did matter
Children, she thought, ah! Something new
She would whip up a nice tasty batter

Douse them with flour, throw in some eggs
Mix it all up with her broomstick
Heads and arms, tangled feet and legs
Straight into the oven, she was quick

Closed the door tightly, then shouted with glee
“Yes! Yes!! Such a fanciful notion!”
“I once heard that children are very tasty,”
Then came a sound, quite the commotion!

Looking about, she spied her creations
Escaping, they ran, hurried, for the door
Sighing, the witch, now lacking elation
“Oh well, I’ll just wait for two more.”
