A
Bugler
Sadly blows
Musical strains
Of magic through brass
Plays a soldier’s lament
For those who battled for us
Triumphant, though many were not
He honors those who never came home
True heroes, on foreign soils, laid to rest

When night falls, after a long hard day

And we no longer wish to schmooze

We find ourselves a real comfy spot

Lay our heads down and just snooze

The lovely Helene of Willow Poetry has challenged us with “What do you See?”.  You may write a poem, haiku, tanka or short story that represents what you see or feel within you.  More info can be found in the link below.

She holds her head high, so proudly

This woman, who has colored the lands

In hues of pink, and yellow, and green

With simply a raise of her hands

Summoning the sun, over mountains

She sees the flowers dance with mirth

Giddy, like a child, she laughs along

She has given new life, to the Earth

Brass Buttons and Bobby Socks – #NovemberWriting #poetry

It didn’t matter where she went
She always dressed the same
A tomboy, through and through
Thought all the girls were lame

Tied up shoes, with brass buttons
Blue bobby socks in her boots
Didn’t make her look the part
In fact, she looked real cute

Wowed the boys around her
Every one of them couldn’t wait
To find out who she had chosen
To take to the prom, as her date

Each day, they’d sit and wonder
As the date for the dance drew near
Then she told them where to meet her
So she could tell them all, quite clear

They stood there, waiting, hoping
They’d be the one to win the pearl
Every heart, she broke that day
For she’d always be daddy’s girl

We search our souls, though wander they may

Asking questions, as to where we belong

Seeking, to discover, perhaps, another way

Realizing, we knew the answers, all along
