Granddad poem

It Used to be Me – #poetry #pain

Why is it that the stars, can glow nightly?

But I easily burn out, exhausted, unsightly

My body dares me, to move about, quickly

Until the nerves become angered and prickly

Deciding I should, at last, just park it

Before something else, happens to spark it

Into a raging inferno, of liquid molten rock

When I look in the mirror, I see total shock

On a face I don’t recognize, how could it be

That the face in the mirror, used to be me

Daylight does not last forever

It parts when its time is done

Hides behind the hills of heather

Bows to the slowly setting sun

Casts its final shadows deep

Against the dark of the night

Tis this time, she peacefully sleeps

Til morning dares to share her light

The beautiful strings of a harp, sing softly upon her soul

A composition, from within, both hands begin to play

Her fingers, lost in the music, a face so angelic, whole

And I watch her eyes dance, as the melody steals her away

Friday Fantasy ~ Seeking Darkness – #poetry

She seeks the darkness, it draws her

In the eyes of the raven, she finds

A look of the one most enchanted

Of he, who plays games with her mind

With wings as black as pitch, she lands

By the old gnarled tree, in the wood

Anxious to questions those who take stand

Do they know whether or not she should

Seek out the mysterious one she feels

Each night, as he calls to her heart

But they refuse to answer her plea

And in the rise of the dawn, they depart
