I hear the chimes, of the church bells, ring

God’s message, resonates, to all around

Our guardian, through life’s unpleasant things

Each tone, from the other, more profound.

Memories, I keep close to my heart

Though, you’re with me every day

A beacon, guiding me through the storm

Allowing my fears to fall fast away

In loving memory of my father-in-law, Don

A day like any other, though rain had darkened the sky

The clouds raced at a furious pace, the birds forgot to fly

Leaves came down in small twisters, caught upon the wind

Autumn begins to bid adieu, and the trees feel quite chagrined

When my world is so disconnected

And I can’t seem to tie up loose ends

I take a step back, breathe in, exhale

And let my worries, to the sky, ascend

Why must winter bring death

With its pristine coat of white

Spirits, cloaked in angel dust

Are grounded from their flight
