I used my trusty compass to navigate, across the ocean blue
I brought along my mentor, so he could show me what to do
He pointed out all kinds of things, like the fish, and birds
Then said, “the sky’s the limit”, and in my soul, something stirred

Now you’ve made me curious about the origin of that old expression. 🙂 By the way it’s “The sky’s the limit,” — as in “The sky is the limit.” But the limit for what??

It basically means there is no limit to your success. Thanks for the edit lol

And according to Google: The phrase ‘the sky’s the limit’ originated in poker. Of American-English origin, the phrase the sky is the limit means there is nothing to prevent someone or something from being successful

Thanks. I never think of Google! I know what it means, but was wondering why success was “limited” by the sky. If it started with poker, then I suppose that was the limit to how high they could pile their chips.

Some poker games have no limit, so the sky makes sense. Place your bets lol
