This is my entry for KaylaAnn’s End of Summer Poetry Contest. I hope you enjoy 🙂 Info for the contest can be found HERE

The fire burned, ever so slowly
We watched, as flames grew high
Each stick thrown into the pile
Seemed to let out a hideous cry
As the fiery mass engulfed it
Soon turned it to soot and ash
Then a chill in the air sent a shiver
A reminder, that summer had passed
Sadly, she was making her exit
All we had were memories to pack
Autumn made herself be known
Now, all we could do was look back
To the warmth of the sunlit days
And oh, how the nights did sizzle
Cooler breezes now come this way
As we watched the firelight fizzle

I’ll bet! I need to make my way over to read. I don’t read until my poem has posted, I don’t want to be swayed by another’s 🙂
