The captain was nowhere to be found
It seemed his boat had run aground
Through starlit night and moonlight glow
He vanished in the undertow
Or had he disappeared from sight?
Did he, from his ship, alight?
Has he found his newest haven?
Or been swallowed by his first mate, Raven?
The bird will never tell, my friend
Of how the captain met his end

The first mate made him walk the plank
On a very dark night, so cold and dank
Nobody even heard the splash
As the raven heard the captain’s last gasp
