Authors Note: This poem is based on true events in Texas. The horrific way in which humans are being smuggled and trafficked has to stop!!!
Into containers, chained
Padlocked, no air, no light
The only sound, echoes
Of tears, falling against
Metal floors, they dare not
Cry out, lest they lose
The only thing left, but life
Betrayed them, left them
Stranded, unable to survive

Indeed. The lack of public awareness only drives the corruption further.
