Can you tell me, wise old sage
What lies beyond the gate?
Will I journey through them?
And tempt the hands of fate
They say you are the only one
Who can tell my future true
I am here to listen closely
To the wisdom, that is you
In the setting sun of evening
With the stars that shine so bright
I’ll wait here, in the darkness
With you, as my guiding light
I’ll stand here and I’ll wonder
If you’ll ever let me see
What it is inside the gate
That’s waiting just for me

You captured beautifully that time in adolescence when you wonder and the world is filled with expectation.

Dorinda, I am a forever fan. This one pulls at me in a curious way, making me wonder and question, even worry. Yet, I love the questioning of fate and that ebbs the worry. I guess it is better to question something we don’t understand, than it is to carry on, only to get bitten by something that could be horrible. I really love this. Please keep them coming.

I have striven to access and surpass many gates in my time. It is no small task. I have sought the Sage as well, and I have come to know two distinct truths. One does not seek the Sages key, one becomes the Sage by possessing the key, for beyond all daunting gates, lie yet another daunting gate, thus the Sage matures, ever adding to their ring, those keys to gates surpassed.
