For someone very dear to my heart, and to all the women (and men) who are victims of domestic violence….you’re stronger than you think ❤
Before the light of day turns blue
And darkness finds my sorrow
Memories flood in vibrant hue
Will I awake again, tomorrow?
Unable to dream of happier times
When life was oh so kind
Remembering all that I once was
How could I be so blind?
To think this would be forever
That nothing could break the ties
Instead it leaves an open wound
Filled with empty, deceptive lies
That drown my heart in crimson red
As my body bleeds from you
Dreams turned into nightmares
It was all that I could do
To keep from losing who I am
To myself, I must be true
And find the strength to walk away
Before the light of day turns blue

You’ve outdone yourself with this one Dorinda!!! The hurt and the sorrow leap at me and I had no choice but to embrace them and let them through the gates right into my heart!

This poem is a masterpiece, Dorinda! Even without knowing about the background (I read it after I read the poem) it touched me deeply. Very deep felt emotions sensitively and clearly expressed.

Right! Two often everybody looks away and the involved people feel ashamed to talk about it. But the only ones who should be ashamed are the violators!
