Little Lady Lily, such a silly forest sprite

Got stuck in a tree, and stayed there all night

Til a bird landed on her, but it couldn’t speak elf

Lady Lily didn’t care, she’d have to teach it herself

Soon, many feathered friends, learning the words

Did pass them along, to all the other birds

The little forest creatures, kept chattering away

Seems all this time, they’d had an awful lot to say

Lady Lily didn’t care, decided to build a new home

Up in the tree, a little nest, the only one, with a dome

Our memories are open portals to the past

Tidbits of our lives, kept in a photo book

How we long to go back to those yesterdays

Then we remember, all we need do, is look

This week, Colleen has given us the words Pleasant and Read as our challenge. Remember, you can only use synonyms to write your poetry!  This is my Tanka, a bit more serious than the last, but still lighthearted! I used Delightful and Book.

Whisk yourself away

Into a delightful book

Seek out the places

Where imaginations live

And time really does stand still

This week, Colleen has given us the words Pleasant and Read as our challenge. Remember, you can only use synonyms to write your poetry! I was feeling a bit silly today and wrote this etheree with fairy tales in mind, using charming and learn.   I promise a serious Tanka later today  😉

Prince
Charming
Was never
Really a prince
The ladies, aghast
Refusing to believe
How anyone could trick them
A lesson learned, never kiss frogs
Especially the ones in the moat
Who can dazzle with their delightful smiles

Storm clouds of grey, pitch black, emerge
Then open up, with a thunderous surge

Icy cold droplets, against my skin
Looking up to the sky, I take it all in

Trying to count them, but they’re much too fast
These pennies from Heaven, gather, amass

Into puddles for jumping, no way I’ll abstain
Anyone watching, might think me insane

Dancing about, in the middle of the street
Clothes soaking wet, from my head to my feet

Ah, but who cares, just let the rains pour
I’ll simply stay here, waiting for more
