No longer blue, skies turning gray
Colorful atmosphere drifting away
Melancholy thoughts invade, unkind
Ominous, clouds float, past my mind

But what if the blue returned, for a day
Bringing the warmth of the sun
Would we be happier, brighter, this way?
Enlightened by what has been done

No, the sky will go back to its colorless display
And our minds will continue to wander, astray
Chasing the unreachable, wondering why
The colors of autumn must pass, quickly by

Cast your spells upon me

Let me dance among your glow

Waltz among your colors, bright

Feel the breezes blow

Twirl about the meadow

Soak in the autumn sky

Watch the world around me

Change, then simply wonder why

The splendor of this season

With its artful life, displayed

Must give way to winter

Turning colors into gray

Oh, cast your sun upon me

Dear autumn, share your light

So I may keep the memory

Of your beauty, in my sight

The last of winter

Blown away by the March winds

Gone, not forgotten

In the quiet calm

Before winter’s final days

Snowflakes fell again

The last of winter softly falls

Dressing berries in coats of white

The harbinger of spring awaits

To bid the frost its final bite

To chase it back from whence it came

And banish cold and bitter days

Let warmth replace the icy blasts

With sunlight’s glistening golden rays
