It was senseless to think she could write

Whilst sitting there, waiting, for morning light

Perhaps the dark, would suit her much better

Not knowing which phrase, or word, or letter

Was gracing the page, such nonsense, she thought

I shouldn’t be writing, I’ll never be bought

But she let the ink fly, even though it was trash

Twas her little sprinkle of balderdash

In a worn out gown, she holds back her tears

Simply wasting her life, in her final years

Sacrifices, she’s made, senseless, inane

Left her with nothing, but agony and pain

She weeps in silence, for all she has lost

A home left in shreds, her own holocaust

Tortured, by her own desperate needs

Nearing her death, she quietly pleads

A prayer for solace, comfort for her heart

On the wings of an angel, she peacefully departs
