Like chocolate melting, simmering
above a low flame
a flavor waiting to be tasted
savored
lips meet
impassioned, indulging
the sweet confectionery
enveloping, embracing
allowing lovers to stray
into the heat
the fire

Warm water tides, turning

Waves crash ashore, churning

Sunlight streams down, burning

Sweet childhood memories, returning

Sunlight Fades

life, Night Owl Poetry, poems, poetry, sunlight, Sunlight Fades, thoughts

Standing by an open window
Soaking in the warmth and air
Breezing through my thoughts
And wondering just where

The hours have gone, passing by
Vanishing much too swiftly
No chance to get them back, you see
They left me here, too quickly

So I lean back and soak it in
As daylight turns to shade
Press my face against the glass
And watch the sunlight fade…

neilmecove2015
They’ll never last, we heard them say
So we put them in their places
We spoke our vows and said I do
With smiles upon our faces

An elegy was written
No, this wasn’t just a rumor
Mourning the loss of his only son
My father-in-law‘s sense of humor

The guys all got together
To say farewell, dear chap
No more video games or movie frames
Just the famous Bachelor Rap

Friends and family gathered round
To wish us on our way
A bright new future lay ahead
On that beautiful July day

Yes, that was thirty years ago
As we celebrate this life
Neil, forever my husband
And I, forever his wife
