And she sits quietly in the distance

As she paints the skies

A palette of reds and yellows

Against the blue ocean waters

Gently rippling below her

And she glows ever so brightly

Before tucking herself in

For the night

You speak aloud
And no one listens
The words topple around you

You speak again
And resolve to answer yourself
Asking why no one gives attention
Why does no one respond?

You shout
And the sound echoes, empty
Like footsteps on pavement
Falling wordlessly distant

You scream
One more time
And still no return
Only the repetition
Of your own voice
Answering back, hollow
Mocking your own mind

Perdition’s Flames

A crowded room
Bodies sway to the beat
Of melodies unheard

Blank faces stare beyond
Looking at each other
And looking at no one

Silently they disappear
Through the passage
Into clouds of smoke
From burning embers
Of perdition’s flames

When you look in the mirror
What do you see?
A reflection of who you are
Or who you could be?

Do you see anger and hate?
Do you see sadness and sorrow?
Do you see love and forgiveness?
Do you see a tomorrow?

Look again and ask
Can I change what I see?
A reflection in the mirror
Isn’t all you should be

girl-996635_960_720Who is she
Hair blowing in the breeze
As she soars
Carefree and peaceful
Unafraid of the day

Higher, daddy, higher
She squeals
As a gentle push
Sends her flying
And the swing sways
With the gentle rhythm
Of the wind

Who is she
