No longer blue, skies turning gray
Colorful atmosphere drifting away
Melancholy thoughts invade, unkind
Ominous, clouds float, past my mind

But what if the blue returned, for a day
Bringing the warmth of the sun
Would we be happier, brighter, this way?
Enlightened by what has been done

No, the sky will go back to its colorless display
And our minds will continue to wander, astray
Chasing the unreachable, wondering why
The colors of autumn must pass, quickly by

Overflowing letters
The words to her, he wrote
She kept them neatly, in a box
So sweet, was every note

Of how he thought about her
What she meant to him, his bride
As he watched her, walking toward him
His heart, so full of pride

Knowing she was only his
This blessing in his life
Remembering that summer day
When she became his wife

But time slipped quietly by
And the letters now impart
The memories he tucked away
Yet, kept within his heart

Reminiscent of her beauty
A red rose, he leaves behind
As the scent of her still lingers
Intertwined, in heart and mind

There is no answer to
Her more than somber mood
Shadowed by sadness
Overwhelming , unexplained

Missing pieces
Scattered about
Just out of reach
Baring a soul
Taunting its very being

And she struggles
With effort to break this gloom
Never giving up, fighting
This mournful feeling
She cannot let capture her resolve
