Assuming she had all the time in the world
And life’s rules did not apply to her

She was frivolous, wasting every chance
As if minutes lost, could once again occur

Seconds, ticking ever so quickly, racing
Passing through the day, she didn’t notice

She spent her life, never seeing tomorrow
So completely blind, and out of focus

And when her time had passed her by
Still, she cared not for what she had lost

She wouldn’t believe she had no time left
She’d simply beg for more, no matter the cost

There was an old frog named Hobbity
Who liked to lay on a lily pad and bobbity

He’d sway with the ripples, on the lake
Basking in the sun, a joy to partake

He disliked the winter, and all the snow
Waiting for spring, to put on a show

For all the lady frogs, who’d hop on by
Hoping to make them swoon and sigh

But days went by too slowly for Hobbs
Impatient, was he, this old frog

So he jumped in, through the ice
Paid a terrible price!

Now ole Hobbs and Fiona hobnob

A decrepit old coot she was not
Though her body parts told otherwise

Whenever she walked, she made a strange sound
So she wasn’t a big hit with the guys

No matter how hard she tried
They ignored poor Josephine, until

They found out the secret she hides
Kept in the old lumber mill

Sneaking in quietly, late one night
They made their way, through the dark

One lit a match to see where they were
But all he did, was create a huge spark!

The place went up like a bonfire
Seems they found ole Josey’s still

Now all there is, is a cranky old maid
Sitting on top, of what’s left, of the mill

There once was a fish named Fiona
Who loved to tease the men at sea

She would move in closely, grab the bait
Then suddenly, she would, break free

Fiona, you see, was quite a fidget
Didn’t like hanging around for long

She’d patiently wait for a nibble or two
Then leave them wondering where they went wrong

The poor fisherman didn’t see it
No matter how hard they gave it a try

Fiona would never let them get her
For the odds, she would surely defy

Until the day, there came another
A sly young bloke, on the shore

He baited the hook, Fiona grabbed it and shook
Now she no longer fidgets anymore

Shaken not Stirred ~ #poetry #MarchWriting

Aside from the obvious way this poem could have gone, I opted for a more relaxing definition 😉

Take one ounce of coconut rum

Add an ounce of orange liqueur

Blue curacao tops off the color

And things will soon be a blur

Don’t forget the cranberry juice

Then make sure it’s shaken, not stirred

Ice is a must for this little delight

This is where your words get slurred

Pour it into an old fashioned glass

Trust me, after a few of these

You’ll surely end up on your ass

Most definitely, on your knees

This is actually the recipe for a drink named Purple Nurple 😀
