Casting shadows, you illuminate night

Take away the darkness, shining bright

In the sky above, to the Earth below

Ethereal beams transcend, and glow

Giving me comfort, my fears you allay

Celestial body, in the dark, I can stay

jetty-593401_960_720Sunset beckons the tides to roll

Drawing you deeper into your soul

Reaching beyond the calling of day

Taking you farther and farther away

As nighttime descends upon oceans of blue

Covering waters with darkness anew

You slip past the shadows of ebony night

Awaiting the comfort of morning’s first light

For Alyssa…..

In the darkest storms

She is the brightness that glows

When light cannot shine

Swirls of color illuminate night

Moonrise watches, with radiant light

Brightens the darkness that covers the sky

Reaches beyond mystical reasons why

I wish I could be up there on a cloud

And yell at the top of my voice, out loud

How beautiful it is, here in space

What it’s like to live, among lunar grace

Surrounded by Heaven’s ethereal glow

As it shines down upon the Earth below

There are always two sides to every being

If you look closely, I’m sure you will see

Behind this pretty little face of mine

Hides a plethora of mystery

The light side bright, in golden hues

Reflecting a heavenly shine

It’s the side that I show you

Smiling, when I’m feeling kind

The darker side doesn’t shine at all

For it clearly does define

The side of me, you won’t care to see

So, I keep it, all as mine
