Eyes that cast a haunting spell
Tick tock, only time will tell
Lost in movements, round and round
Seconds, minutes, time abounds
She has you floating, in her trance
Mesmerizing, with a glance
Staring at the watch, you fade
Realizing, you’ve been played

Enchantment speaks to my soul, divine
In the forest, surrounding, tranquil, sublime
Mists in the trees, sing a melody sweet
An owl lands softly, on my shoulder, replete
And subtly whispers, without making a sound
Of mysteries found, on these hallowed grounds
Born of the legends, in this woodland, they thrive
Locked in my heart to, forever, survive

Beware of this maiden, the one fair of face
Emerald green eyes, that sparkle with grace
Lips palest pink, they’re meant only for him
Still, she’ll blow you a kiss, cross the room, on a whim
You’ll know when she hits you, know just how it feels
When her lips touch your soul, and your heart she does steal

Walls that slant in faded light
Specter’s roam about the night
Shadows stand in open doors
Footsteps creak across the floors
Thinking this is just a dream
Things just aren’t what they seem
Figures lurk about your home
Now you see you’re not alone
Taunting you until you scream
Trick or treat, it’s Halloween

With each flickering flame, my years unfold
Tapering down, leaving days of untold
Dripping memories, of past events
Happier times, still I’m not quite content
Candelabra in hand, a welcoming light
The fire, still burning, with no end in sight
Celebrating the day, reaching for more
Wondering what this life has in store
As closer to Halloween, comes the time
Knowing I still haven’t yet reached my prime
So, I’ll blow out the candles, let the wax seal my fate
On this day in October, 2016, twenty-eight
In case you haven’t figured it out, today is my birthday. I am taking the day to relax and enjoy. I’ll be sure to save you some cake 🙂
