Rooted deep within the earth
Autumn shows her sweet rebirth
Dancing colors in the air
Falling gently without care
She changes for us all to see
How beautiful she can really be
Leaves of red and gold and yellow
Sing to us a song so mellow
Finding peace and tranquility
Among the fallings from the tree

Arms and legs a twisted mass
Running in all directions
And getting nowhere
Tripping my way through
Over hurdles too high to jump
Making my way toward
That ever elusive finish line

Falling
Grasping at nothing
Tumbling downward
Closer to the bottom
No ground in sight
Falling
As you take that final step
Shaken as you realize
You are descending
Into nothingness
Falling
Falling
And you awaken
Heart racing
Body drenched
Relentless moments
The torment of a dream
