Gather leaves, fallen down
Pile them high, above the ground
Into a stack, up to the sky
Are you ready to watch them fly?
Run at full speed, jump right in
Feet first, diving, do it again!
Toss the leaves, into the air
Laugh and play without a care
We all need a reminder of our childhood days every once in awhile. I have fond memories of jumping in leaf piles, although I’m pretty sure my dad didn’t find it amusing. On this Throw Back Thursday, I hope this reminded you of your childhood, too….

A baby cries in the night
A hand gently touches her
A mother’s soothing voice
Comforting, wiping away the tears
A child cries in the night
A mother’s soothing voice
Quieting the nightmare
Comforting, chasing away the fears
A woman cries in the night
Her mother’s soothing voice
Calming and reassuring
Comforting, holding her near
A baby cries in the night
A mother’s soothing voice
A grandmother’s loving touch
As the cycle begins again

06 Tuesday May 2014
Blinking neon lights and loud
music blaring through the speakers
Transforming you into a world
of awe and wonder
Crazy faces painted with white, a shiny red nose
Balloon animal hats on your head
The sound of laughter fills the air
as you run to find your friends
Carousel horses bob up and down
as children smile and wave to
mommy and daddy
Who faithfully stand by the fence
watching and waving back
A large wheel takes you on a journey
into the sky, overlooking the hay filled grounds
People below look like ants as you
soar high above, touching the stars
The smell of hot dogs and
sausage and peppers, arouse your senses
The sticky sweetness of cotton candy
turning your lips and fingers a vibrant blue
A souvenir
Small rings tossed in water, awaiting
a rubber duck as it floats by, all for
a chance to cuddle a stuffed monkey
And finally, you’re exhausted
and the lights begin to dim
and the music slowly fades
And the magical world is left behind
Until the next time…

She runs up the stairs
And hides under her bed
Cowering in the corner
Shielding herself from the
Large hands that grab at her
Trying to take her away
They reach out but she does not move
Does not let them take hold, instead
She crawls further into her corner
Away from the grasping digits
Sometimes, she reflects,
As she tries to fight the fear
Monsters aren’t always under the bed
Sometimes they’re right in front of you
And you can run and hide
But you can never escape
