When one shows appreciation, they have the right attitude

Then others will welcome them, with heartfelt gratitude

But should one only choose to be, the one more combative

Then we need to go one step further, and learn to forgive

Shout out to my girl, Annette and her Attitude of Gratitude posts!!   ❤

Respect

The part of ourselves

We give

A generous portion

Of our souls

A piece of life

Never surrendered

Haphazardly

An appreciation

Of the humanity

Within ourselves

Something

We always need

To pass along

Respect

The Liebster Award – What is it?

While I haven’t been blogging for very long, I have always been writing.  Short stories, poems, articles related to current happenings, you get the drift.  Imagine my surprise when I found out that Eric Huffman, writer, had nominated me for a Liebster Award.  Yeah, I have no idea what it is either, so I Googled it.  I found a site. www.wordingwell.com that explains the rules, the hundreds of different rules!!!  Luckily, she narrowed it down to the simple.  After all, it’s Monday morning and my brain isn’t quite awake yet.

liebster2Apparently, there is a significance to the number 11 although I’m not sure what it is.  You have to answer 11 questions posed to you by the person who nominated you, then nominate 5-11 people for the award.  The blogs should have under 3000 followers, or is that 200? According to the OFFICIAL rules, it’s 1000.  I’m not sure why there is a limitation on the number of followers a blog can have to be nominated.  I suppose it’s to get the word out about those you find fascinating.  It’s a tough rule and I’ve never been one to follow the rules so I may have to change that one!  In Eric’s words “As has become tradition, bloggers, fellow writers, nominate other bloggers whose work they enjoy after having received a nomination themselves. It’s a compliment. It’s community good will, it’s the good vibes of brotherhood and sisterhood, and it’s paying it forward to other bloggers.”

I figured, why not?  A fellow blogger nominated me, let’s pay it forward <one of the rules>.  I’m borrowing the 11 questions Eric answered that he borrowed from Lydia, who nominated him.  Remember, I said it’s Monday morning.

1. Do you drink? What is your alcohol preference?

Of course I do, don’t all poets? Sangria is by far my favorite, although vodka is a strong second. Did I say that all poets like to drink?

2. If you were a tree, what kind would you be and why?

A Cherry Blossom. I love the pink flowers that bloom in early Spring, letting me know the warm weather is right around the corner.

3. What is your favorite thing to find – be it in a store, on the street, in the woods, etc

Something new, something I’ve never encountered before. Except an alien. I don’t think I’d like to encounter one of those little green men.

4. Do you have houseplants? Why? Why not?

Of course. Do I touch them? No way. I have the black thumb in the family. I leave the greens to my hubby.

5. What was the last major goal you met?

Starting my own blog and actually sharing my poems & stories with the world.

6. Do you consider yourself environmentally conscious? If so, what measures do you take?

We all believe we are environmentally conscious, especially when we throw out the liqueur bottles so the recycle guys don’t think we’re lushes.

7. Why do you blog?

It’s a way for me to release emotions, and to let other people know there is someone out there who feels as they do.

8. What’s the most interesting place you have visited?

I have two places if I may. Haleakala National Park on Maui. To stand on the top of what was once an active volcano and look down into the crater is truly an incredible site. And The USS Arizona Memorial located at Pearl Harbor in Honolulu, HI. It’s an eerie feeling to stand over the watery graves of so many who made the ultimate sacrifice.  You feel very humbled.

9. Given the opportunity, would you travel to space?

I’m already spaced out enough but honestly, no. I am claustrophobic so there is no way you’ll be able to lock me in a tiny capsule for days. And dried food and I will never see eye to eye.

10. If you could make a documentary about one topic, what would it be?

The struggles of so many who fight illnesses that no one can see. I wrote my poem, You Look Fine, for all those who fight every day, and have to deal with the callousness of others who think if they can’t see a physical ailment, it doesn’t exist.

11. Do you plan on making contributions to change the world? How?

I’m thinking I’d like to take over the world and get rid of Mondays 🙂 Seriously, I think we all plan to make contributions but don’t really know how to go about it. Getting involved in organizations that could change a person’s life is, perhaps, one way to start.

Thanks again to Eric Huffman for the nomination!  Please be sure to visit his blog!

Thanks For Noticing Me

I’m going to ask the same questions Eric & Lydia did, to my nominees:

1. Do you drink? What is your alcohol preference?
2. If you were a tree, what kind would you be and why?
3. What is your favorite thing to find – be it in a store, on the street, in the woods, etc
4. Do you have houseplants? Why? Why not?
5. What was the last major goal you met?
6. Do you consider yourself environmentally conscious? If so, what measures do you take?
7. Why do you blog?
8. What’s the most interesting place you have visited?
9. Given the opportunity, would you travel to space?
10. If you could make a documentary about one topic, what would it be?
11. Do you plan on making contributions to change the world? How?

While it may not be the most prestigious award out there, it shows you care about your fellow bloggers.  You can find the official rules here.

There you go!  Have fun with it! And thanks again to Eric for the nomination!
