Sunset
When the colors of twilight
Welcome the calm of the night
And the only sound I hear
Is your heartbeat whispering near
And I feel your love’s caress
As we lay this day to rest

The smoke
From the fire in your eyes
Clouds my judgment
Smoldering glances
Burn my reason
Flames flicker and dance
In enchanting fervor

Cinco de Mayo, Night Owl Poetry, poems, poetry, sober, tequila, worm
I looked in the bottom of the bottle
My stomach began to churn
I looked up and down and all around
But couldn’t find the worm
The tequila was playing tricks
My mind was sort of fuzzy
I know that worm was somewhere near
He doesn’t want me to find him, does he?
I searched across the bar
I crawled along the floor
And still there was no sign of him
Maybe he went out the door
I staggered my way toward the exit
Hoping that’s where he’d be
Then reality hit with a sobering thought
The worm was inside of me
Happy Cinco de Mayo!!

I am soaring like an eagle
My wings span the earth
With graceful symmetry
Over mountains and hilltops
Effortlessly gliding on the wind
Above the waters gathering below
Into the sun lit sky, Ablaze
With God’s pure light gleaming
My flight to freedom’s glory

Butterfly Child, Fanciful, Free
Spread your Wings and Fly
Dream of Magical, Mystical days
As your Beauty Colors the sky
Rest upon Beds of soft Petal Clouds
Float like a Bird Flying high
Let the Wind Carry as you Flutter about
Gossamer Wings Whisper gently, a sigh
Beautiful girl, Delicate Ethereal being
The Iridescence of Abstract Art
Illuminate the World, my Butterfly Child
Your Smile Shines a Light to my Heart
