These aren’t the kind of needles
You might use to sew a shirt
In fact, if you prick your finger
You can bet it’s going to hurt

Now, you’d think it’s kind of silly
To walk around with those spikes
But this fella knows exactly why
Don’t bother him or he’ll strike!

And that won’t feel so pleasant
No, it’s worse than a bee sting
Next time you see a porcupine
Just let poor Bristly, do his thing

She found serenity, when she took the stage

With each graceful move, she would disengage

Lost to the dance, alone, no one else included

Caught up in the music, her world, so secluded

From all that had happened, and all that will

With a simple pirouette, and such elegant skill

She glided across the floor, a Prima Ballerina

Reminded them all, of the goddess, Athena

The eyes of those, who watched, and stared

Knew her beauty, could never be compared

They fell for her, she never paid them any mind

She created pandemonium, of a different kind

The Boy without a Name – #poetry – #MarchWriting

He disappeared many years ago
Not knowing how long he was gone
Hoped he could discover who he was
Just a name, maybe Peter, Harry or Don

Something happened, back in his town
Though he dare not speak of it now
Surely they’d think him a liar
After all, what did he know, anyhow?

Wandered alone, left to his senses
He tried to find a place
Somewhere, anywhere, the people
Would recognize his face

Seemed it didn’t matter who he was
No one paid him attention
He was afraid to ask the town folk
They exuded too much tension

Each time he got close to any of them
They’d back away in fright
All he wanted was to find out
Exactly what happened that night

Each time he got closer
It was always the same
And so he continued to wander
The boy, without a name

Whispered stories told today
Of how poor Jimmy was taken
Still send shivers down their spines
This child, who had been forsaken

Left in the hands of the devil
Those who simply felt no shame
A child became their human sacrifice
Known only as the boy without a name

Author’s Note:  In 2018, over 400,000 children were reported as missing or kidnapped.  The latest statistics available (that I could find) in 2011, reported half of all stereotypical kidnappings were sexually motivated crimes.  I pray these children are found safely, and not badly damaged by the evil that stalked them.
(Info came from The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children & the National Criminal Justice Reference Service)

She fancied herself rather grandish

But truly, her looks were outlandish

She would never be Snow

And this did irk her so

Broken mirror, now seven years blandish

Dare believe you can

Achieve the impossible

By making it work

In the mere practical sense

That all things are possible
