Melancholy skies fill, with a tantalizing serum

Showers down, upon the inflorescence of life

Blossoming, as they drink in the sweet nectar

Quenching each thirst, with abundance so rife

The original poem was written in 2014. I have reworked it for this challenge.

Each day, right before it is time to eat

I jump up, on this wall, and say grace

Then enjoy the peanut, I found right here

Any chance, there are more in this place?

It takes no special skill, to rattle Mother Nature’s ways

Still, she manages to protect the earth, so lovingly

Ever mindful, the reality, of disruptive human beings

Those who feed upon her, with such gluttony

So redolent, tis the smell of rain

Where summer heat has parched

Quenches lands across the plain

Ends in colors, sweetly arched

A package of letters, I found in a chest

Written to Grandmother, from Kenny

Made me quite confused, I confess

I thought Grandfather’s name was Lenny!
