I watch the breeze
As it flutters by
Caressing the leaves
With its lullaby
It swirls about
A leaf unbound
And sends it spiraling
To the ground
The days grow short
And the weather colder
And time goes by
As I grow older
Another summer
That went astray
Another season
Another day

That grows ever darker
Deeper into my soul
Cascading like a waterfall
Carrying me away from the light
A fracture in the shadows
I drink in the blackness
Soaking in the void

Igniting the night
With a fiery blaze
Awakening the land
Summoning forth
The wizard’s force
Releasing its churn
The mountain screams
With billowing smoke
Stoking the flames
Shattering the calm
Of the demons below

Looming over the littles

You now look down upon
You gloat
Thinking
‘I’ve got it made’
Until you fall
And the only sound you hear
As you hit bottom
Is laughter
